Ms Tanya Buchanan

Tanya Buchanan is Chief Executive Officer, Cancer Council Australia, and is an experienced public health professional.

Tanya began her career as a Registered Nurse and has worked for the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, Red Cross Blood Service Australia and in the higher education, local government and the voluntary sectors. Tanya holds an MBA in Health Services Administration, a first-class honours degree in English and Comparative Literature and a B.Sc (Nursing).

As former CEO of Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) in Wales, UK from 2006-2011, Tanya was awarded the Leading Wales Award and was admitted as a Member of the Faculty of Public Health by Distinction.

Tanya is passionate about prevention of ill health and addressing inequalities in cancer outcomes.
